CHICKENS
Chickens are among the oldest domesticated fowl in the world.  They are such useful birds.  Not only do they supply a source of meat and eggs, but they are also useful weeders, insect hunters, entertainers and, yes, alarm clocks!
Most chicken breeds are very placid and non aggressive towards humans.  With the exception of the brooding hen (hen who is sitting on eggs or has chicks).
Our petting farm chickens are use to being handled and petted.  Infact, some will even seek out human companionship.  Its not uncommon to look up and find one of the chickens standing near by watching us as we work around the farm.
Chickens are not only entertaining to watch, but have become part of our culture.  Imagine a world without :
Eating Fried Chicken
"Why did the chicken cross the road?" jokes
"Are you chicken?" dares
The Little Red Hen story
Chicken Little story
And how could we communicate without:
"Madder than an old wet hen"
"Happier than a hen in the corn crib"
"You can't crow with the roosters if you hoot with the owls"
"Sticking feathers in your pocket does not make you a chicken"
Hen party
Cackling like an old hen
Hen-pecked - nagged
The rooster may crow but the hen delivers the goods

And of course...imagine what a boring place the world would be with no
CHICKEN DANCE!!!!!!!!
